Need to sharpen your blueprint reading skills? The purpose of this course is to provide the student with the basic understanding of how to interpret blueprints. Topics will include how to read and understand blueprints, types of drawings, parts of drawings, print views, and dimensioning and tolerancing systems.
Course highlights include:
- Understanding the views of a blueprint: front, side, and top isometric
- Learning the ten basic line types of blueprints
- Learning section views and auxiliary views
- Understanding the arrangement of the blueprint, blueprint sizes, title blocks, and revision blocks
- Understanding dimensioning systems: using English/metric, baseline/N/C, etc.
- Understanding tolerancing: Plus/Minus, Max/Min
- Learning the methods for displaying tolerances: including GD&T symbols and factors affecting tolerances
- Understanding surface texture
- Learning about threads and fasteners
- Understanding machine terms and holes
Notes: There are no prerequisites for this class. The handout material and a certificate of completion are included with the course fee. As a means to provide assessment and certification, a summary test can be provided at the completion of the class. Please note that this is optional, adds one day to the course length (4/15/08) and costs an additional $20.
